Managing Spare Parts Inventory
The overall objective of this course is to optimize a company’s maintenance, repair, and operating (MRO) spare parts inventory asset.
Throughout the course you will acquire the best practices and techniques for optimizing the MRO inventory using numerous real case studies.
What will I learn during the training - Setting reorder points to prevent over stocking, factoring risk into the stocking equation, setting appropriate stocking levels for new spare parts, understanding the influence of lead time and other stocking parameters and how to set goals and monitor results for both “active” and “rarely used” production spare parts.

Eugene C. Moncrief
Eugene C. Moncrief has nearly fifty years of experience as a researcher, businessman, and consultant. He spent five years at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory where he performed Research and Development on the nuclear fuel cycle. He was employed by the Babcock & Wilcox Co. for twenty-three years where he held various positions including Senior Vice President and Group Executive for B&W’s world-wide nuclear and fossil businesses.
For the last twenty-four years he has been Chairman of MerriHill Inc., a consulting firm specializing in inventory management, and as a partner with Inventory Solutions Inc. From 1978-1985 he was a Visiting Professor at the University of Virginia’s Darden Graduate Business School.
Dr. Moncrief holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Virginia Tech. His publications include Production Spare Parts – Optimizing the MRO Inventory Asset, Industrial Press [August 2005], and three other business books. He has conducted over a hundred business and management seminars for conferences and clients.
